Made using traditional ingredients (Bamboo, Fire & Patience).
Here is a sound clip:
I make them better than I play them!
My Anasazi flutes are end-blown or rim-blown flutes. Similar to the Japanese Shakuhachi and South American Quena.
The particular shape of the blowing edge & overall dimensions give it quite an unmistakable sound, capable of delicate, yet very expressive melodies.
This is a 6-hole flute. The leather strap is hiding the 4th hole. This is a traditional method of giving you the option of using it or not. With the strap on, each hole corresponds to the full NAF scale. Taking the strap off allows you to access more of a chromatic approach.
A bit of my process:
All of my flutes have been carefully selected from bamboo grown for this very reason. Carefully dried, then soaked in Pure Tung Oil.
The Amber color comes from the Japanese Aburanuki heat treating process I use. This hardens the bamboo & makes it more crack resistant. It also improves the tone and balances response.
Tied with ultra strong Chinese Knotting Cord bindings. Finished off with a Museum Quality Wax & polished to a nice luster. All this 'extra' work ensures that your flute will last as long as you, maybe longer.
The wood burned World Winds logo is the shorthand sign for 'protection from harm'.
